LIMITED Chikafa is on cloud nine.
After declaring that Dynamos were under pressure ahead of their clash against his team ZPC Kariba on Saturday, the veteran striker delivered the killer blow to the defending champions at the
National Sports Stadium.
As ZPC won 2-1, they went back on top, this time two points ahead of Dynamos and with one match to go against Caps United in the season finale.
Chikafa spoke to New Zimbabwe.com after the match.
“Like I had said before the match, we were not under pressure, they (Dynamos) were under pressure. But we were not intimidated by their fans and everything they were doing.
“When we conceded that goal, we took it as a mistake and we continued playing our same game like we were not behind. We knew we were going to hit them, at the some stage.
“At halftime, our coach told us of their weaknesses and their big one was on the right flank and as you saw our goals came from that side.
ZPC have 56 points, two ahead of Dynamos and a draw against Caps United will give them the title even if Dynamos win as they have a better goal difference.
As they returned to Kariba on Sunday, Chikafa and his teammates were savouring the international break which will see the Chibuku Super Cup final also taking place this weekend between FC Platinum and Harare City.
“We need some rest, we have played 29 games away from home travelling across the country and now we can rest.
“We are not champions yet, we have Caps United to worry about and we will not look at how Dynamos will play against How Mine but our own result,” the veteran striker.
Chikafa scored the winner halfway through the second half after Tsepo Ranthokoane deflected cross from the right had found its way into the nets.
Anesu Gondo had headed home the Dynamos opener in the sixth minutes from a Masimba Mambare cross.
Dynamos coach Kalisto Pasuwa continuously washed his face with water from a bottle that was placed to his left while a yellow substance, thought to be urine, was poured on the ZPC technical bench at halftime.
RESULTS
Sunday: Shabanie Mine 2-1 Highlanders, HowMine 3-0 Bantu Rovers, Triangle 1 -0 Chiredzi, Caps United 1-1 Harare City, Chapungu 1-0 Black Rhinos, Hwange 0-1 FC Platinum
