Natfoods, Econet losses drag ZSE lower

THE equities market on Friday ended the week lower, with the industrial index shedding 0.84 points to close at 189.14 cents, weighed down by losses in Natfoods and Econet.

Natfoods, which this week announced the resignation of chief executive Jeremy Brooke, moved 10 cents down to 300 cents while telecoms giant, Econet shed 1.21 cents to 78 cents.

Other losses were recorded in tobacco processor, BAT which decreased by a cent to 1397 cents, while Meikles and Radar each put off half a cent to close at 15.5 cents and 2.5 cents respectively.

Gains for the day were recorded in SeedCo, which put on 1.5 cents to 80 cents, while Masholdings gained 0.05 cents to 2.7 cents and Starafrica increased by 0.01 cents to 2.2 cents. Turnover for the day stood at $1,2 million with foreigners dominating trade.

The Industrial index lost 4.31 points in the week.

The mining index remained unchanged at 87.17 points with Bindura, Falgold, Hwange and RioZim maintaining previous trading levels.
