Can Moses Chunga derail Dynamos?

LAST season Dynamos were almost derailed in their quest for a third Castle Lager Premiership title in a row by Buffaloes when they were beaten 3-2 at Sakubva Stadium in Mutare.

That setback was Dynamos’ first loss in 23 matches, but the rest of the chasing pack failed to take advantage of that slip and the Harare giants eventually matched to the league title.

And as Dynamos are still mourning from their 4-3 penalty loss to Triangle in the One Wallet Cup final on Sunday, this is one trip to Mutare that they would not want to undertake at this stage of the season.

In fact, Dynamos were stunned 1-0 by Buffaloes at the National Sports Stadium in the first half of the season and know they face an uphill task against a team that is now under the tutelage of their former son Moses Chunga.

Chunga replaced Luke Masomere, who engineered that famous win in Harare and has now taken charge of How Mine in Bulawayo.

Chunga, who has seen duty at Dynamos, Caps United, Shabanie Mine, Black Rhinos and Hackney among other teams believes the game, is self-motivational to his players.

“I think my boys are self-motivated. I say that because some of players who have injuries have attended today’s (Wednesday) training.

“This shows a lot of motivation although there are some in-house issues that need to be managed but this is not for media consumption,” he said.

Dynamos will be hoping that Rodreck Mutuma, who missed a glut of chances in the One Wallet Cup final, will be back to his best as Simba Sithole is still struggling with a hamstring injury.

Left-back Ocean Mushure could also return while Masimba Mambare, who has been out of action since May, has been training in the last two weeks.
