KAIZER Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter has said off-season signing Ovidy Karuru understands it will take longer than he had anticipated for him to break into the team following the club’s superb start to the season.
The Zimbabwe international was snapped up after a spell with Belgian club Oud-Heverlee Leuven, and though his desire was to make an immediate impact, he has found the challenge much tougher.
The left-footed midfielder finds himself a bit down the pecking order in his wait for game-time, with the likes of Siphiwe Tshabalala also standing in that queue.
“It would be strange if he was making a noise because he has just arrived and has played no games. He is arrived at a team that has just won the first 11 games,” he added.
“I think he also knows that he is learning the way we play, so at the moment he has made no noise whatsoever, but I am careful to always make sure that the players understand how I feel.
“I feel that he is making progress, but at the moment he has a lot of players in front of him that have been here a lot longer and he is going to need more meat on the bone before he can dislodge them.”
