The Bulawayo Show a hit at premier

THE Bulawayo Show, a compilation of animated video clips, premiered Friday at Rainbow Cinema in Bulawayo. 

The show is the brain child of Ingwe studios and 31-year-old Brucik Lungovich (real name Thabani Lunga) who is a fourth year medical student at the Perm State Medical Academy in Russian depicts various social, political and cultural issues in the country.

“There is a gap when it comes to comedy, especially animated comedy,” said executive director and Ingwe Studios director, Zenzele Ndebele.

“So we decided to do the show to entertain people and also educate them. The response was good and each episode was viewed by more than 5 000 people on Facebook and shared a lot on WhatsApp.”

Due to the popularity of the video clips which have in the past months gone viral in Bulawayo and beyond, the premiere the comic video clips saw comedy lovers from all corners of the city grace the successful launch. 

The venue was packed that those who could not find any seats had to sit on the floor.

The series of comedy clips, tackles various issues like peer pressure, drug and substance abuse, dating and adolescence, among others. The themes are tackled in a humorous and appealing way.

As anticipated, producers of the show did not disappoint, putting together a hilarious production that captivated the audience and had them in stitches for the entire two hour show.

The show got off to a flying start with stand-up comedian, Erlando Da General, who also features in the comic video clips, warming up the house with a few jokes that got the audience laughing right from the onset. 

The audience also got a chance to see the cast behind the production and also the introduction of new characters to the show.

Ratu and Sox, the popular characters in the show, proved a hit with the audience who roared with appreciation when the people behind the voices were introduced to them.

The two are friends who always have a few tricks up their sleeves and always on a quest to gain fame and woo females. 

Ntuthu, is popular with his "Ntuthu's Guide" where he shares his personal life experiences.

Other characters in the show are Elando Da General, Ama and Beatz, Nxumalo and his two grandsons Sporo and Mkomo, Alpha and John. 

Ndebele, expressed his appreciation to fans who continue to support their productions. 

"The rate at which we are going at is encouraging. We were looking at the last video we uploaded on YouTube and within 22 hours it had reached over 32 000 views. 

"This is a huge thing and we want to thank the community of Bulawayo and beyond for your support," said Ndebele. 

He also gave kudos to the media for supporting their production.

Lungovich, expressed his gratitude to people who had supported their productions.

"We started off with one production, which we posted online and the next thing people started downloading it and passing it around. We will continue putting up more productions because we are inspired by you," said Lungovich. 

He also revealed that they are planning to put up another production which will shown on 5 September. 

With the success that the show has already achieved on online platforms, the producers, who are in the process of packaging the shows on DVD hope they will make profit from the sales.
